Wet weather


It’s almost officially summer and cool-weather flowers, like pansies, are still blooming in areas.

As of Monday, June has brought the Mineral Wells area 1.62 inches of rain. The maximum temperature, so far this month, was recorded at 97 degrees Farenheit, with a minimum temp of 60 degrees, according to the Weather Underground website, wunderground.com.

According to the same source, Monday morning’s rain produced 0.25 inches of rain.

Two years ago on June 17, when Palo Pinto County was in the midst of perhaps its worst fire season in recorded history, there was no recorded rainfall for the month. The mean temperature was 92 degrees, with a record-breaking maximum of 107 degrees for the day and a minimum of 78 degrees.

Last year on the same date, June produced a maximum tenperature of 89 degrees and minimum of 71 degrees and had produced no precipitation.

Today and Wednesday there are rain chances; however, the forecast through June 26 indicates clear skies, with highs in the 90s and lows between 70-73 degrees.
