Various seats open

Filing for the May 11 election is underway for many area school boards and city councils.

Individuals who are registered voters living within the district are eligible to file for a place on their respective school board or city council election ballot.

Those interested in filing for a position on the May 11 ballot should contact the proper entity below.

The process includes picking up an application packet, completing the application, having it notarized and filing it at the respective district office before 5 p.m. March 1.

Filing for a school board election:

The following is information on school districts having school board elections this May. Please note:

• Filing times vary for each district and are listed below.

• Except where noted, all school board terms are for three years.

Mineral Wells ISD has three at-large places for election, including: Place 3, held by Board President Joe Ruelas; Place 4, held by Scott Aaron; and Place 5, held by Board Vice President Mike Tincher. All three have filed to retain their seats. Filing takes place at the MWISD District Services Center, located at 906 S.W. 5th Ave. Office hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday, and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Friday. Millsap ISD has two at-large positions up for election, held by Tommy Lucia, who has filed this year, and Board Secretary Jerry Walker. To file contact Connie Weise in the administration office, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. The office is located at 201 East Brazos St., Millsap (76066). For information call (940) 682-3101.

Graford ISD has two at-large seats up for election occupied by incumbents Eddie Laney, who has filed, and Mike Pendergraft. Filing packets are available from the superintendent's office, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The office is located at 619 West Division St., Graford (76449).
