Mineral Wells Index

Take a home-grown band, a lovely evening in the park, add them together, and you'll have an electric atmosphere highly conducive to fun, aka, a street dance. And that's what's new this year at Texas Frontier Trails' Ranch Heritage Day celebration. There will be dancing!
The Taylor Hickey Band will be twanging out the tunes for the dance, ensuring feet are shuffling, eyes are twinkling and fun is in the air.
Billed as TFT's First Annual Street Dance, the dance commences at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and runs until 10:30 p.m. in TFT Western Heritage Park (formerly Pollard and Lions parks), 3099 N. Oak Ave., Mineral Wells.
You may attend the dance for a mere $5, but you'd be missing out on a lot. For $20 you are entitled to enjoy entertainment all afternoon and evening. And an authentic chuck wagon meal cooked up in a Dutch oven by local cowboy chef Alan Smith will be served up at 5 p.m. You get that, too.
Entertainment includes cowboy storytelling, music and information on Palo Pinto County ranches, including the Crawford Brothers Ranch, Nelson Ranch, Belding Ranch, Double Gates Ranch and others.
Also, beginning at 1 p.m., there will be a Dutch-oven cooking demonstration, surrey rides through the lovely park and mechanical bull riding. A little something for everyone.
Gates open at 1 p.m. Saturday, and tickets are available from the Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce, Bennett’s Office Supply, or at the park.
TFT suggests you bring a lawn chair to "take a load off" now and then. You can move it around to suit your fancy or to catch a bit of shade.
TFT added the dance to the Ranch Day lineup for diversity, and most likely, because they just wanted the good time to last a little longer. Who can blame them?
TFT is a local group dedicated to preserving this area's rich western heritage. And they invite you to come out for the celebration.
Why don't you whisk the dust off your cowboy boots (or sneakers) and mosey on out to TFT Western Heritage Park for an afternoon and evening of learning, entertainment and "pure-dee-old" fun.
