‘Wonderful’

Hope Gala brings in gross proceeds over $44,000

From staff reports

From the annual Hope Gala fundraiser Saturday night at Holiday Hills Country Club, Hope Inc. grossed $44,134 after auctions, the cork pull and tickets were tallied.

“That’s wonderful,” said Hope Inc. Executive Director Lisa Huffaker.

“The Board of Directors did an amazing job of gathering auction items,” she added. “We had a good crowd, with 200-plus in attendance, and they were very generous with their money.”

John Berry and Michelle Butcher emceed the event and Dwain Eaton called the auction, which included numerous generously donated items.

“The food was great, band was great [and] John Berry, Michelle Garcia Butcher and Dwain Eaton worked hard to raise funds and entertain us, and Jeanette Ender collected the auction money. I couldn’t be happier,” Huffaker said.

Some of the larger-netting items of the night included Brian Hartnett’s donatation of estate jewelry, Garretts Jewelry, Nathan Buschow, who donated a large outdoor cooker and Todd Hamilton, who donated two sets of tires.

The evening’s proceeds go toward helping women and children who are victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. In 2012, the shelter housed 124 women and 80 children. The non-profit also provides counseling, victims’ advocacy services and gives out 55-60 food boxes each month.

Sponsors, recognized before dinner at the formal event were:

• Diamond sponsors – Mike and Doris McConnell, Link Field Services, Alice Walton, First Financial Bank, David Hawes, Laine Perry and Barbara Upham and Bob Dempsey.

• Emerald sponsors – Titan Bank, Jeromy and Perri Leavelle and Kirk and Karen Horton.

• Ruby sponsors – Palo Pinto General Hospital, Ram Country Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Ventamatic Ltd. and Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner.
