GARNER – Although Garner ISD offers classes through eighth grade and not high school, Superintendent Marion Ferguson reported that eight eighth grade students will enter high school next year with two State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness end-of-course tests under their belts.
Last spring the Texas Education Agency rolled out its new STAAR tests for elementary and junior high students and a series of STAAR end-of-course exams for ninth graders. At the high school level, STAAR tests will eventually phase out the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills, which sophomores and juniors took last spring and juniors will take next year.
