A Mineral Wells police spokesperson confirmed Friday two suspects were in custody following the suspected arson of a home believed to contain items stolen in recent burglaries.
Reports show detectives responded to the house, located in the 1800 block of S.E. 19th Street, after receiving information about its alleged use for the storage of ill-gotten gains.
An investigator working on the case explained authorities initially responded to the residence with the intention of securing the resident’s consent to search the premises. When officers were denied entry, they then began working on obtaining a search warrant.
While authorities were securing legal access to the residence, reports show detectives were stationed outside the front and rear exits of the home. Shortly before the search warrant was secured, authorities reported smoke coming from the home.
Immediately afterwards, individuals fled the residence, leading police on a short foot pursuit.
Ultimately, police said, the two suspects were apprehended and now face a number of pending charges.
Casey Ray Glover, 31, of Mineral Wells, and Temkai Lee O’Bryant, 30, of Mineral Wells, were arrested and face charges stemming from the incident. As of Friday, the pair had not yet been booked into the Palo Pinto County Jail.
