Travis Elementary sixth-grader, Alexa Creamer, has been selected as a candidate in the 2013 Distinguished Youth of Texas Program which will take place at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter  Nov. 29-Dec. 1, 2013.

Alexa is one of 75 young girls from across the state who has been chosen from over 1,500 invitees to participate in this year’s program.

Alexa will be judged on scholastic record, service to school and community, personality projection, and interview. This is not a beauty pageant. “This is a scholarship and recognition pageant for the nation’s outstanding young women, grades 2-7, to accent positive qualities and ideals.”

Alexa is a model student and has been recognized for many school accomplishments, including: 1st place Social Studies UIL, 3rd place Battle of the Books, 3rd place Spelling Bee, 1st place Science Fair, and the Outstanding Science Award.

She currently serves as vice-president for the Travis Student Council and is a member of the Travis Cadets. In addition, Alexa is an active participant in her church’s youth group and children’s choir. She has had piano and vocal lessons and has just begun to play guitar. She has played Upward Basketball for the last four years, was a cheerleader for two years, and has just signed up to play softball with our city league.

Lonestar Ranch & Outdoors and Randy and Karen Cook have agreed to sponsor Alexa. Together, they will provide her registration fees, hotel and wardrobe. We believe Alexa has a solid shot at getting crowned Young Miss of Texas and winning the scholarship.
