Mineral Wells Police were dispatched to the 500 block of N.W. 1st Street Saturday in reference to a domestic disturbance.

Upon arrival, an MWPD spokesperson said police learned a male suspect assaulted a female at the scene.

Officers began taking Leroy Wayne Clayton, 44, into custody, but reports show he began resisting their efforts to escort him into a squad car.

Police then stunned Clayton with a taser, according to reports, after which he complied and was transported to jail.

Clayton now faces charges of assault causing bodily injury/family violence and resisting arrest, search or transport.

Hotel heist

While at a local hotel investigating another matter, police said they were informed of a truck stolen from the property.

A police spokesperson explained officers responded to the 2800 block of U.S. Highway 180 West Thursday regarding the report of a stolen television at the business.

During the investigation, reports show guests at the hotel approached an officer and said a 2002 Dodge Ram was stolen from the parking lot.

The vehicle was returned a short time later, reports show, after it was abandoned in the 1500 block of U.S. 180.

Storage shed switch

An unknown subject entered a storage locker in the 6000 block of U.S. Highway 180 East and removed several items, police said.

According to a report filed Friday, the complainant said the original lock was replaced with another one.

The facility's property manager cut and removed the replacement lock to open the locker, police said.

Reports indicate golf clubs, a laptop computer and a suitcase containing clothing was missing from the building.

According to police, the storage facility said no one entered the property by fraudulently using the complainant's access code.
