As a means to raise funds, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is hosting its third annual Fore-the-Kids Golf Tournament, April 25.
“I am very excited,” CASA Recruiter and Trainer Trisha Duke said. “It's a lot of fun. It's a good time for socializing. It also gives our volunteers a chance to spend time with other volunteers.”
Friends of CASA is organizing the event. The tournament will take place at Canyon West Golf Course in Weatherford with chairpersons George and Amy Mercer and co-chair Jon Forrest, county attorney for Parker County.
The tournament will begin with a noon lunch, sponsored by Fire Oak Grill.
Shotgun start for play is at 1 p.m. A dinner will take place after the tournament, with the awards and door prizes being handed out once dinner is complete.
Teams will compete for top prizes including a trophy for places first through third. A longest drive trophy and a closest-to-the-pin trophy will be awarded as well.
Sponsorship opportunities and team registrations are now available for the tournament. The sponsorships range from $5,000 platinum, $2,500 gold, $1,500 silver sponsors to a $25 CASA Pals sponsor. Jerry Durant Auto Group currently holds the top sponsorship.
Teams and individuals may register for tournament play on the 18-hole course at Canyon West. Teams of four cost $400 and individual players cost $100.
“We have seen the event grow,” Duke said. “Last year was the first year we had it at Canyon West and we have seen a significant growth in the amount of participants from Palo Pinto and Parker County. It's good to see the people's support of this program.”
CASA – Hope for Children is an organization of volunteers who advocate for children who have been removed from their homes because of abuse and/or neglect in Parker and Palo Pinto counties.
