One Mineral Wells resident had a close call when her car caught on fire while she was driving Thursday evening just before 6 p.m.

Mineral Wells Fire and Police Departments responded to the engine fire, which was quickly put out within 10 minutes, before anything too serious could happen. According to MWFD, the driver was in the 200 block of SE 1st Avenue around Dollar General when her car died suddenly. When she got out of the car, she saw flames crawling out from underneath her hood.

The driver told officials on the scene she had not had any work done on the vehicle recently, but she added that the cadalidic converter was stopped up.

No one was injured in the car fire and the vehicle was towed away by J & S Salvage and Repair.
