Students from all county school districts participated in a poster contest to observe Red Ribbon Week.

According to District Attorney Michael Burns, Red Ribbon Week is “an annual event aimed at raising awareness among children of the dangers of drug abuse.”

He explained the Palo Pinto County Alliance for Drug Endangered Children sponsored the contest.

Participants were asked to use this year’s theme, “The Best Me is Drug-Free,” as an inspiration in creating their posters.

Winners were separated by age, beginning with the youngest competitors in the kindergarten to third-grade division.

Burns said trophies were provided for winners through a donation by North Texas Pressure Vessels Inc. and Awards and More.
