Mineral Wells Police and EMS crews responded to the Walmart parking lot Monday afternoon following reports of individuals being struck by a vehicle.

The MWPD investigator on the scene reported arriving shortly after the incident occurred, around 4:50 p.m. Police said EMS units were already in place and assessing the injuries to a young female victim and her mother.

According to reports, Angela Shipman, 35, of Mineral Wells, told police she was traveling south along the parking lot's main thoroughfare, having just turned from a row of parking spaces in front of the store's grocery section.

She recalled watching a vehicle she thought was going to pull in front of her just before striking the pedestrians, police said. She said she turned her head just in time to see the individuals in front of her vehicle but was unable to stop before striking them, officers reported.

The crash report states Savannah Lankford, 26, was pushing a shopping cart across the parking lot as her 4-year-old daughter rode inside. While Lankford was uninjured in the crash, her daughter sustained multiple scrapes and bruising on her side and head.

Police said her injuries were not incapacitating.

The child was transported to Palo Pinto General Hospital via ambulance, accompanied by her mother, reports show.

Crash reports indicate the collision caused damage to the front center of Shipman's vehicle.

According to the reporting officer, witnesses said Shipman was not driving recklessly nor at a high rate of speed and described the same series of events reported to police.
