The Mineral Wells Art Association learned, at its February meeting, about some elements of portraiture from Bill Lampley.
Lampley, who had a career in Fortune 500 companies, became a self-taught artist, and now spends his time painting portraits. The artist now lives in Mineral Wells and shared his journey with the group, showing some of the pivotal works of art and items that set him on a portraiture path.
The art association has monthly meetings on the third Tuesday of the month, which are highlighted by demonstrations. The group welcomes the public to these and to it's twice-weekly painting sessions: Tuesday mornings, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and Thursday afternoons, noon-4 p.m., at Fuzzy's Taco Shop in Mineral Wells.
The March 19 meeting will feature Millsap artist Dorothy Dowler, who will address her approach to portraiture. Dowler is very active teaching painting classes at the Mineral Wells Senior Center on Thursday mornings.
The March MWAA meeting will be held at the Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce, located at 511 E Hubbard St., in Mineral Wells. A business meeting begins at 6 p.m. and painting demonstration starts at 7 p.m.
