Mineral Wells Index

The lone occupant of a vehicle involved in a serious crash west of Mineral Wells Wednesday was buckled up when she lost control of her vehicle, authorities said.
According to Department of Public Safety Trooper Gary Rozzell, Scarlette Page Moore, 46, was driving a 2003 GMC Envoy east along U.S. Highway 180 at around 9:40 a.m. when the crash occurred.
"She went off the right side [of the roadway], went through a fence, struck a tree and came to rest," Rozzell said.
First responders worked to extract Moore from her vehicle as an AirEvac helicopter landed in an adjacent residential lawn.
While her identification listed a Weatherford address, Rozzell said the trooper on the scene was unable to speak to Moore at the scene to verify that information.
He said she was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth for treatment of possible broken bones.
During the crash, he said a spare tire broke away from the vehicle and traveled several yards before hitting a 2005 Dodge Ram pickup parked nearby.
As indicated in an earlier story, an eyewitness driving directly behind Moore prior to the accident said she was not exceeding the posted speed limit.
According to a source at JPS Hospital, Moore was listed in fair condition as of Friday afternoon.
