PERRIN – There will be a reception to honor Mary and Ted Burns on their 60th wedding anniversary on Sunday , June 13, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The reception will take place at the Perrin First Baptist Church. No gifts, please and everyone is invited. Their actual anniversary is June 16th. Congratulations to the Burns.
Laura Tucker, granddaughter of local Perrin residents Pete and Beulah Tucker, has earned a Superior rating in voice competition at the District Festival of Texas Federation of Music. She also earned a Superior rating at the State Festival in San Marcos. Additionally, Laura received a commended score in piano at the National Guild of Piano Teachers. Little Miss Tucker is the daughter of Jennifer Tucker and the late Joe Tucker.
The Perrin-Whitt PTO raffled off a barbecue grill last Saturday and our congratulations go to Sherry Ripkowski on winning the pit. The PTO raised $2,132 and wants to send a big thank you to all the students and parents who helped sell tickets.
There will be junior high and high school volleyball camps in July at the Perrin school. It will run July 26-29 in the Perrin High School gym. Junior high camp will be from noon to 2 p.m. and costs $40, which includes a T-shirt. The high school will have two sessions. Session 1 will be from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and Session 2 will be 2:30 p.m. to 4. The high school sessions will cost $75, which includes a T-shirt. All registrations need to be mailed before July 12. Forms can be downloaded in the Extracurricular/Volleyball section of the school district’s website.

Marks Mealio flew in from Nashville, Tenn., last Thursday evening to go to his nephew, Sean’s, graduation. Sean Fowler was valedictorian of the graduating class of Perrin 2010. Marks enjoyed going fishing early Friday morning with his dad, Fred Mealio, and niece, Haylee Fowler. Haylee won the bragging rights as she was the only one who caught one big enough to keep. Marks left Saturday morning back to Tennessee.
Elmer Smith and Chella Wampler Smith will celebrate their reunion on Sunday, June 27, with lunch being served at noon. They will be meeting in Jacksboro at the First National Bank building in the hospitality room which is on the street (U.S. Highway 281) entering Jacksboro on the south entrance.
