We got the official notice from TheNixleTeam e-mail that the burn ban is on in our area. Looking at the pastures the wheat, which was planted a few weeks ago, is struggling to grab hold and a good solid rain sure would help it, as well as all of our stock tanks.

Sorry to report of the death of Clayton Webb, former Perrin resident. He lived in a nursing home in Mineral Wells for the past several years. He had fallen and broken his hip, had surgery on Friday, Dec. 3, and passed away Saturday, Dec. 4. His graveside service was Wednesday at the Perrin Memorial Garden. Clayton was 94 years old. Several remember him from working for G.C. and Nell Moore as a ranch hand, and loved as if he was a member of their family.

The last day of school for Christmas break for Perrin-Whitt is Friday, Dec. 17.

The PTO-sponsored Penguin Patch Holiday Shoppe, which was in the Perrin School Library, was very successful. This gave elementary students an opportunity to shop for the holidays for their siblings as well as their parents at a convenient place. Thanks to all the parents who volunteered to help in the shop.

The PTO is also having a stocking drawing at $1 a ticket, or six for $5, and an extra-large penguin drawing for $1 a ticket, or six for $5. The drawing is Dec. 17. All money raised from the drawing and sale goes to provide prizes for AR and end-of-school prizes for junior high and high school students. If you would like to look at the penguin or stocking, they are on display in the library.

The First Baptist Church in Perrin is having its youth Christmas party on Wednesday, Dec. 15, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the church.

At this time, the youth will total the money they have been donating towards their World Vision project. This project is to help supply farm animals for people living in poverty and without food. What the youths buy depends on the amount of money they raise. If they raise $500, they will be able to purchase a cow, or as little as $75 purchases a goat. Whatever they raise will be going to help children and their parents around the world.

FFA teacher Loren Sell has a few of the meat products from their recent sale available. If you would like to purchase any of the items, contact Loren at 798-3845. This will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The Perrin Church of Christ had its monthly First Sunday Fellowship last Sunday, Dec. 5, and the food was delicious as usual. Several were absent because of illness, but the remainder faithfully carried on and tried to make up for those missing mouths.
