Robert Franklin Ames (Bob) Burris, of Arlington, Texas, died peacefully at his home Saturday, Dec. 8, surrounded by many of those he loved dearly.

Service is 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at the First United Methodist Church in Mineral Wells. Burial will follow in Woodland Park Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Bob was born Nov. 30, 1937, in Mineral Wells to Otis F. and Nan Mae Bozzell Burris. He married Sandra McCloud June 8, 1957, and they had 50 wonderful years together.

Bob was an outstanding natural athlete and a member of the Mineral Wells High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He was a four-year letterman in football and track, twice winning the state championship in pole vault. He was a pole vaulter for McMurry College and participated in the Border Olympics. Bob was always very proud of his Native American ancestry and was proudly listed in the Choctaw roles. He was known to family and friends as something of a Renaissance man. He could fix anything that was broken, rebuild any automobile, and sew better than Sandy. He was the complete package who loved his family and friends without limits. We will not see his equal again, but look forward to the joy of being with him again one day.

Bob is survived by his wife Sandy, their son, Dr. Brad Burris and wife, Cheryl, of Plano, Texas, their daughter, Stacy Kouba, and husband, Curtis, of Arlington; five grandchildren, Carly and Calvin Kouba, and Lindsey, Evan and Brooks Burris; two sisters, Marjorie Nash of Grapevine, Texas, and Johnna Teichman of Mineral Wells; and a brother, Don Burris and wife, Kelly, of Irving, Texas; sisters- and brothers-in law, Jo and John Murphy of Mineral Wells, and Benni and Jimmie Konvicka of Stephenville; nieces and nephews; and a whole host of friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Dorothy Hines and Dr. Ben L. McCloud; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Ernest Wallace; and brothers-in law, Albert Teichman and Charles Nash.
