GORDON – Gordon ISD is looking for a new superintendent after Dr. Dewayne Wilkins on Monday was named lone finalist to become Early ISD's next superintendent, according to a report by the Brownwood Bulletin.
The Early ISD board's decision reportedly came Monday night, settling on Wilkins from an initial group of 40 applicants to replace the retiring Wes Beck. Wilkins will reportedly begin his new duties July 1 following a state-mandated 21-day waiting period before a contract can be signed.
Located just northeast of Brownwood, Early competes in Class 3A with a student enrollment of about 368 students. Gordon is a 1A school with about 50 students.
Wilkins told the Bulletin he has family in the Brownwood area, which contributed heavily to his design to seek the position.
