A high speed pursuit Saturday on Interstate 20 involving a motorcycle rider ended with a crash and the arrest of the man, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

A Texas Highway Patrol trooper clocked a 2007 Suzuki westbound at 83 mph in a 70 mph zone and attempted to stop him around 2 p.m. near Farm-to-Market Road 4, Sgt. Jason Dudley said.

“The driver intentionally evaded Trooper Alewine’s lawful detention,” Dudley said. “A high-speed pursuit ensued.”

The man accelerated in excess of 130 mph and reached speeds as high as 160 mph during the pursuit, according to information provided by Dudley.

The vehicle reportedly wrecked in the highway median in Erath County near State Highway 108 as the rider attempted to negotiate a curve.

Tri-City EMS responded but the rider refused treatment.

Jakeb Dru Hall, 28, of Abilene, was taken into custody without incident and arrested for evading arrest or detention with a motor vehicle, a state jail felony, according to Dudley.
