Mary Brents and her dog, Noel, enjoy a warm summer afternoon, thanks to a group of volunteers who recently built a ramp in front of her home. Brents was home bound prior to the project because rotting boards on her previous ramp could not support her motorized wheelchair.


Mary Brents was home bound for months because rotten beams on her porch and ramp were unable to support her motorized wheelchair.

A fortuitous encounter with several individuals from area churches recently remedied her problem when they arrived at her home the morning of July 14th to build her a new ramp and replace boards on her front porch.

"They call themselves Palo Pinto Carpenters," she said. "They built a ramp so that I could get out of my house and they didn't charge not one penny."
