Keith Allen Schouten, 35, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Wednesday on a warrant for assault family violence with a previous conviction.

According to police, Schouten is believed to have participated in an assault early Sunday morning at a residence in the 200 block of N.W. 5th Avenue.

A 39-year-old woman was reportedly beaten by her housemates during a dispute shortly after police responded to a call at the residence around 4 a.m. regarding a disturbance.

Two men at the house told the officer their roommate locked them out of the house and they would sleep outside, according to police.

Police were called back to the residence around 9 a.m. by the woman calling on a cell phone without service.

According to the woman’s story, the men held her down and beat her with a PVC pipe, police reported.

The woman then went to sleep before waking up and calling police.

She was transported to Palo Pinto General Hospital for a bleeding head wound by Mineral Wells EMS.

Police said a warrant has been issued for a second suspect, a man believed to have used a pipe during the attack.
