Some on the Meals on Wheels of Palo Pinto County Christmas wish list have companion pets they want to provide for and some are in poor health. In all, there remain 52 county residents whose wishes have not yet been adopted.

MOWPPC Executive Director Patty Clark said she hopes readers will “help fulfill a Meals on Wheels Holiday Wish List for someone special this year.”

She encourages anyone who can help to look over the list of citizens whose wishes are still available, at, and select someone to adopt this Christmas.

Wish list requests range from basic clothing – jeans, slacks, socks, underwear, winter hats, shoes, house slippers and tops – for male and female adults and children to help paying the electric bill and a toaster oven or electric skillet.

Clark said one woman in poor health asked to remove her wish list because “she felt it was too much, but in my opinion … I believe a wish is a wish and you should be able to make one,” Clark noted on the MOWPPC wish list.

“She is in very poor health and is homebound unless going to the doctors. She just wished to be able to go out to dinner and a movie with her husband while out,” she added. “And she also mentioned, ‘I’d love one of those Hot Sandwich Makers- Panini Machines.’ So I have removed what she put, but wrote my own,”

Others items include food – from tasty holiday treats to fresh fruit and chicken and dressing. Thirty-two of those remaining on the wish list have pets, some more than one, and would like something for their companions.

Clark said they still have some requests for electric heaters and electric blankets and “we still need a twin bed and a queen-sized bed if anyone has one in good condition to donate.”

“We would still like for anyone willing to donate gift cards to local places like Bealls, VF Factory Mall, Walmart, Metro, Dollar General, Family Dollar, Sonic, Dairy Queen, etc., to drop those by the office,” Clark added.
