Hello Millsap and friends,
It is predicted Punxsutawney Phil will see his shadow for six more weeks of winter, or we could think of Groundhog Day as the halfway point to the spring equinox in March if you are not superstitious! I often think of a ridiculous movie where a goofy guy keeps reliving the same day over and over.
Reading this article could seem like you are in that movie as things are repeated often like the annual spaghetti dinner for the Garden Club which will be Saturday, February 8th. This is such an important fundraiser and the ladies work so hard to make a special evening for our community while raising monies for the scholarships to be awarded to our Millsap seniors.
This year is no exception with over 25 baskets and silent auction items. There will be entertainment, delicious food and a bake shop. Tickets are $10 each at the door and children under 5 may eat for free. Serving starts at 4 p.m. in the Millsap high school cafeteria.
The Millsap Water Supply Board has been elected as follows: Kenny Barnes, president; Arnold Garrett, vice president; and Fred Griffith, secretary/treasurer. Other board members include Joe Young, David Meals, Jason Schrick and Jamie French.
A new board to oversee the Millsap Community Center was also chosen by those attending a January meeting. Many of these volunteers have been serving the community center for a long period of time. Melvin Davis will serve as president, Jamie French as vice president and JoAnn Barnhart as secretary and Janice Edwards as treasurer. A Facebook page for the Millsap Community Center is up and running. Find and “like” it.
Our community is saddened by the loss of Mrs. Helen Williams. May God bless and comfort her family and friends.
Thank you for your time and interest in our great “little” community. Make someone smile today!
