It’s “tree lighting” time in Millsap (today, December 14th). Come on over to the log cabins for all the holiday festivities including at least 17 vendors who may be able to help complete that Christmas shopping list, a Christmas parade, Santa and Mrs. Claus, and special Christmas music performed by local talent.
Don’t forget that ugly Christmas sweater contest and all the FREE hot dogs, chili and fixings. The kids can even decorate a Christmas cookie while waiting to see Santa. The parade is at 3 p.m. with chili judging at 1 p.m. Feel free to bring lawn chairs as seating is very limited.
Our community and many others have tree lightings to celebrate Christmas. This is also done in London, where a special tree is presented to the UK each year by Norway in commemoration of the support given them by the UK in World War II.
In Brazil, the Christmas play we know so well includes a woman who tries to steal baby Jesus! In Mexico, there are the Posadas, where a procession of children, look for a place for Mary and Joseph to stay. In Japan, Christmas is not a true religious holiday for many with Christmas Eve being a romantic holiday more like Valentine’s Day (that’s sad).
We are so blessed to live and celebrate the truth with many countries despite different traditions around the world.
December 21st – Walden Farm and Ranch Supply invite the community to join them in celebration of Christmas with food, hay ride and of course, Santa pictures!
Please remember the family of Lowell Byrd in your thoughts and prayers.
God bless you all as we prepare our hearts for Christmas!
