WPD investigating deceased couple at local motel

WEATHERFORD – Weatherford police are investigating the deaths of a man and a woman found at a local motel Monday afternoon.

Weatherford PD received a call for a welfare check from a business in the 100 block of Alford Drive concerning two persons that were possibly deceased, according to a WPD release.

Officers arrived and located in one of the rooms of the Motel 6 one adult male and one adult female. Both were pronounced deceased on scene by responding medical personnel.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office identified the two as Catherine A Walker, 64, and Kenneth Ray Walker, 61, both of Mineral Wells.

The investigation into the deaths is ongoing, and detectives from the Weatherford Police Department are processing the scene and gathering more information as to the cause and circumstances surrounding the two deaths.

The deaths are not a double homicide, WPD Public Information Officer Sgt. John Rudolph said.

"That would mean we had a third person involved," Rudolph said. "The two deceased are the only people involved in the deaths, and so there is no danger to any public."

Police are still waiting on the medical examiner to confirm the cause of death, Rudolph said. However, he confirmed that the deaths were traumatic.

"There was visual trauma to the bodies," Rudolph said.

Police are still working to determine the relationship of the couple, though they are not siblings, Rudolph said.

This story will be updated as more details emerge.
