Mineral Wells police are treating an incident of a body found today at Miller Stadium as a suicide.
The body was that of a 22-year-old man who apparently used a goal post to hang himself, police said.
Chief Dean Sullivan said a note and identification was found with the victim. Pct. 5 Justice of the Peace Tisha Lemley ordered an autopsy.
"It appears to be a suicide," Sullivan said. "We are withholding name pending notification of all next of kin."
According to a report, an officer left a call in the area around 11 a.m. and noticed a stadium gate open and a vehicle. Walking into the stadium he saw what appeared to be a body, and checking further the person unresponsive.
Additional officers and EMS were called. Any further actions will depend upon the results of the medical examination.
Located in the southwest part of town, Miller Stadium is the historic former home of the Mineral Wells Rams, and later used several seasons by Community Christian School as its home football stadium and by the Mineral Wells Youth Soccer Association.
