The Meals on Wheels of Palo Pinto County Angel Tree is now up, located at Community National Bank & Trust in downtown Mineral Wells.
The bank is located at 101 S.E. 1st Ave., across from the Baker Hotel.
The tree contains the names wish lists of some of the agency’s clients, said Executive Director Lydia Kelley. When selecting a card from the tree, provide your name and phone number in the book located at the kiosk at the front of the bank so the agency can track who chooses which client.
Some cards are also on the tree located in the lobby of Palo Pinto General Hospital.
The back of the card has the items and snacks that our seniors have specifically requested. Kelley said the community is encouraged to visit the trees and pick a senior’s angel card.
“We ask that you give what you can and know that you are not obligated to give every item on the list,” Kelley said. “Some additional items that would make wonderful gifts are blankets, non-skid footie socks, stamps, toiletries such as lotions or soaps and any other basic items that may be difficult for our clients to get out and purchase themselves.”
Once the shopping is completed, gifts for clients can be dropped off Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. till 4:30 p.m., at the Meals on Wheels office at 1410 S.E. Martin Luther King St. on or before Dec. 16th. This date is important, Kelley said, as it will allow Meals on Wheels to make sure clients receive their gifts before Christmas.
“We’d like to ask that gifts be grouped together by client, preferably in bags,” Kelley said. “The cards from the Angel Tree are to be used as the tags for the gifts so drop those off along with the gifts.
“This is a great way to get involved and help neighbors this holiday season. Meals on Wheels of Palo Pinto County is also always looking for new volunteers and would like to ask that you consider us for your end-of-year, tax-deductible giving,” Kelley added.
