From Staff Reports

The Mineral Wells Christmas Market offers something to little kids and big kids alike as the city comes alive with holiday cheer on Friday evening.

Sponsored by the Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce with help from First Financial Bank and Farm Bureau Insurance, the heart of the Christmas Market is local merchants, many of whom will be open 6-10 p.m. Merchants will be decorated in their holiday best and provide refreshments to shoppers.

Some 50 local stores, businesses and restaurants are participating in this first-time special holiday event.

“To everyone who is putting off their local shopping until the last minute, my advice is, ‘Don’t wait,’” said Beth Henary Watson, executive director of the chamber. “This will be such a fun evening, you’ll regret missing it.

“Our merchants and event coordinator Melanie Weatherly have worked so hard to make the first Christmas Market a success, we now just invite everyone to come out, shop, and have a good time,” Watson added.

In addition to the numerous businesses that will be open, the Brazos Mall is hosting crafter and vendor booths.

For the young and young at heart, the Mineral Wells Christmas Market features two Santa’s workshops, one at Ancient Tone Studio and Productions at 109 N.E. 1st Ave., and inside Brazos Mall. Both open at 6 p.m. and will stay open until 8 p.m. or later, depending on the number of children who need to petition Santa.

Other activities include a hayride downtown sponsored by the ladies of Farm Bureau Insurance and a kiddie train ride sponsored by First Financial Bank. Pickup for the hayride is at Ancient Tone Studio.
