For his two-touchdown performance in a 21-14 loss to the Ranchview Rams’ quarterback Braden Fryer has been named the Mineral Wells Church of God Player of the Week for Aug. 30, 2019.

Fryer faced a heavy rush on a night where the Rams were forced to use two-back protection, and he was often flushed from the pocket to avoid being sacked.

Despite the defense being in his face all night Fryer rushed for 95 yards and scored on a two-yard run.

Trailing 13-7 at the half, Fryer engineered Mineral Wells best drive of the evening and marched the Rams 80 yards down the field to open the third quarter.

Rolling right and under a heavy rush Fryer laced the ball to sophomore wideout Tristan Gray for a two-yard scoring pass and a 14-13 lead,

Fryer was presented his Player of the Week plaque by Mineral Wells Church of God Pastor Jerrel Tomlin and vice-principal Jeff Williams.

A senior, Fryer, is no stranger to earning sports awards and as a sophomore was an all-district slot back.
