The Lady Rams softball team missed out on the Granbury tournament after bad weather forced the cancelation of the event. Coach Matt Antwine worked his magic and managed to schedule his squad a pair of tough games for a “double-header” against Peaster and Clyde.
“We would have lost four games where we wanted to go in and work on different situations,” Antwine said. “You don’t want to miss out on opportunities to get better as a team.”
Going with back-to-back games was a tremendous duplicate situation for the Lady Rams as it tested their ability to stay focused when under a little stress.
“Playing tournaments and running through the different scenarios of where the play needs to be is what helps prepare us for those same situations in district,” Antwine said. “You get into district play, and the wins and losses count, and that’s where the stressful situations aren’t so bad because you’ve been there before.”
The Lady Rams return to their home field Friday for a 2 p.m. game against Caddo Mills and have away and away home scheduled against Midlothian Heritage March 17 and 20.
