Eastland rolls by Millsap
EASTLAND – The Millsap High School Bulldogs didn't roll into the open week in quite the fashion they had wanted on Friday, dropping a 49-7 decision to the Eastland Mavericks.
With the loss, the Bulldogs slipped to 2-2 for the season. Eastland is now 3-1 overall.
The Bulldogs will be open this Friday. The team will return to action on Oct. 1 when it hosts Rio Vista in the District 4-2A, Division II opener.
Gorman grinds out 20-7 victory over Perrin-Whitt
GORMAN – The Gorman Panthers scored twice in the second quarter then held on to claim a 20-7 win over the Perrin-Whitt Pirates on Friday evening.
After battling to a scoreless draw in the first quarter, the Panthers managed to reel off scoring plays of 43 and 27 yards in the second and built a 14-0 cushion.
Perrin-Whitt answered back in the fourth. The Pirates pulled to within eight, at 14-6, early in the fourth on a three-yard run by Bryce Cameron.
Cameron, the area's top rusher, finished the game with 104 yards on 21 attempts.
The Panthers salted away the win late in the fourth with a five-yard scoring run.
Perrin's Dusty Salazar passed for 119 yards in the loss.
CCS falls at home
The Mineral Wells Community Christian Warriors dropped a 62-42 decision to Dallas Tyler Street on Friday at Miller Stadium. CCS is now 2-2 for the season.
