The 11th Annual Mineral Wells High School Athletic Hall of Fame banquet will be held on March 26, 2011, according to Hall of Fame committee member Sean Harvey.
“This is a great event for our school and our community,” said Harvey.
The classes of 2010 and 2011 will be inducted in a ceremony held at Mineral Wells High School.
Currently there are 41 individuals and 11 teams in the hall of fame. There will be eight individuals honored in March, two teams and a new category will see two "Special Contributors" inducted. The inductees will be announced in late October.
The MWHS Hall of Fame was founded in 1999.
Apolinar looking strong for Lady Rams
Maria Apolinar is making a name for herself and the Lady Rams' cross country team. Apolinar placed second individually in the Fossil Ridge Cross Country meet.
“Maria has looked exceptional this year. She should make a run at the district meet,” said cross country coach Jackie Harvey.
Apolinar ran a 13:43 to lead the Lady Rams to a fifth-place finish in the team race and finished second individually.
Maricela Castillo also turned in a top performance.
Hawks to present another tough test
It doesn’t get any easier for the Mineral Wells Rams as they travel to Iowa Park to face another tough opponent. Iowa Park is picked to finish third in district 6-3A race this season behind Graham and Burkburnett.
The Hawks made the playoffs last year behind Lee Clubb. The IPHS standout rushed for 1,071 yards and 11 touchdowns last season.
The Hawks looked exceptional last week in knocking off 2A district favorite Holliday 31-13.
