Parker Purvis rushed for three touchdowns and tossed two more Friday and led the Strawn Greyhounds to a 68-19 win over the Gordon Longhorns in non-district six-man action.

Purvis accounted for 281 of the Greyhounds' 484 total yards.

With the win, Strawn upped its season record to 3-2. Gordon, which opened the season with three straight wins, fell to 3-2.

Purvis staked Strawn to an early lead. He scored on the Greyhounds' fifth play from scrimmage and gave Strawn an 8-0 lead heading into the second quarter.

Strawn built its lead to 24-0 early in the third on a pair of TD runs by Aaron Doyle before Gordon hit stride.

A junior running back, Doyle finished the game with 64 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries.

Sophomore kick returner Michael Cherry gave the Longhorns' their first points by returning a kick-off 68 yards for a touchdown.

Strawn went back to work from there. The Greyhounds pushed its lead to 40-7 on a 45-yard pass from Purvis to Josh Regino and a 26-yard TD run by Purvis.

The Longhorns cut into Strawn's lead again late in the second. Ian Montgomery burned the SHS defense with a 44-yard TD run with 3:44 left.

Strawn, behind a solid rushing performance from Ismael Martinez, reeled off 22 unanswered points en route to building a 62-13 advantage.

Gordon refused to go away quietly. The Longhorns scored a third time on a seven-yard run by Dustin Zuyus, who finished the game as the Longhorns' second-leading rusher with 21 yards.

Martinez closed out the game with 43 yards and a pair of scores on six attempts.

Strawn will host Bryson this Friday at Greyhound Stadium. Gordon will host Stephenville Faith Christian at Longhorns Stadium.
