One way or another, someone will walk away from tonight's showdown between the Mineral Wells Ram and the Glen Rose Tigers with their first 2010 win.
The Rams, coming off a pair of tough setbacks to Graham and Argyle, will face winless Glen Rose beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.
Glen Rose has struggled to put points on the board this season. The Tigers have averaged just 16.5 points in their first two games of the season, including just seven in a 17-7 loss to China Springs last week.
The Tigers opened the 2010 season two weeks ago with a 49-26 loss to Mineral Wells rival Bridgeport.
Against China Spring, the Tigers jumped out to an early 7-0 lead, but failed to muster any more offense. Glen Rose finished with less than 250 total yards in the game.
The Rams, who will likely be without starting running back A.J. Poole again this week, head into the contest with a team that played well, at times, against No. 10-ranked Arygle. Mineral Wells actually held an early lead following a 55-yard punt return by Tamarkus Carter.
Mineral Wells is led into the contest by quarterback Hunter McCoy. The MWHS signal-caller has thrown for more than 400 yards in the Rams' first two games, but is still looking for his first TD pass.
Running back Gilbert Castorena will also help headline the Rams' offense. A week ago, the sophomore back rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns in his first varsity start.
Friday's meeting with the Tigers will mark only the third time Mineral Wells and Glen Rose have faced each other on the football field. The teams have split their first two meetings, with the Rams taking a 27-20 win over the Tigers a year ago.
