Millsap had a tough time in the Eastland tournament after starting with a win against Sweetwater. The Bulldogs will open play in the Poolville tournament Thursday in a 9 a.m. game against the host.
Millsap 4 Sweetwater 2
Millsap collected 10 hits, but it was a ground out by Wesley Rogers to score Nathan Sykes in the bottom of the fifth inning that broke a 2-2 tie and paced the Bulldogs to a 4-2 win against Sweetwater.
Starting pitcher Brighten DeSantiago allowed the Mustangs just five hits over five innings as he struck out four batters and allowed one earned runs. Lane Brian picked up the save after entering the game in the sixth inning, and he also sat down five batters.
Aldo Calvillo and Brain led the way at the plate with three hits. Cavillo, Rogers, and DeSantiago all had one RBI each.
Pampa 12 Millsap 0
Pampa got an early 6-0 lead after three innings, and Millsap hurt itself with three errors allowing five unearned runs in a 12-0 loss.
Four Bulldogs took the mound as Rogers, Brayden Cox, Colby Hicks, and Weston Moore all took turns attempting to contain Pampa’s batting order.
Millsap picked up only two hits by Irwin and Brian.
Jim Ned 2 Millsap 0
Two fifth inning runs were the difference as Millsap couldn’t capitalize on Brain’s four-hitter as the senior threw 49-of-72 pitches for strikes, forced 15 ground/fly outs, and allowed no walks.
Jim Ned’s pitching proved to be just as strong as Rogers picked up two hits, and Lawson Nairn and DeSantiago had one each.
