Mineral Wells was unable to recapture the success it had in Hamilton as the Lady Rams stumbled in the first round of the Lipan tournament Thursday with a 54-25 setback against Cisco.
Mineral Wells had problems getting a shot to fall while executing their offense, and then turnovers began to push the Lady Lobos out front 34-13 at half time.
“I was pleased with the way we were able to block out on defense and get some rebounds,” Coach Tony Raffaele said. “We are coming along on defense and learning how to become more physical.”
Paige Riney blistered the net early in the contest with a trio of three-pointers, and she finished the game as the Lady Rams’ leading scorer with 13 points. Jersey Davila made the most of her opportunities and netted four points. Rian Schultz also popped in four points and was a force under the basket on defense.
“We just have to keep improving as a team and get better at our communication, too,” Raffaele said. “That’s the reason we get involved in tournament play is to continue to improve.”
