Santo overcame three lost fumbles as its defense snagged four interceptions to spoil Millsap’s as the Wildcats escaped with a 19-10 over the Bulldogs Friday night.

The two rivals were even closer in total yardage with Santo posting 264 yards to Millsap’s 259. Jace Davis provided the majority of the Bulldogs’ offense as he rushed for 139 yards on 17 carries and was 6-11 passing for 41 more yards.

Eli Gann’s first-quarter touchdown put Santo on top 6-0, and a 32-yard field goal by Millsap’s Wyatt Birdwell made it a 6-3 game at halftime.

Millsap enjoyed their only lead of the game when Waylan Dunn scored from three yards out.

The Wildcats responded with a five-yard score from Jett Bryan and Colby Farquahar’s extra-point kick, and Case Proctor sealed the deal in the final quarter with a six-yard touchdown run.

Wesley Rogers joined Davis in providing 8-17 passing for the Bulldogs. The two quarterbacks combined for 14-28 through the air with all of those 14 receptions going to Hunter Matthews for 103 yards.

Grant Nemeth and Colby Farquhar were Santo’s top tacklers with 5.5 each Gann and Austin O’Hair notched 4.5.

The Wildcats have a bye week and will start District 6-2A play when they host Electra Oct. 11. Millsap also has a bye week and will return to action when it hosts Rio Vista Oct. 11.
