Santo 29

Alvord 21

Two fourth-quarter touchdowns by quarterback Jett Bryan rallied Santo past Alvord Friday night as the Wildcats (2-1) posted a 29-21 road win.

Tied at 15-15 in the fourth quarter, Bryan broke away on a 20-yard scoring run with 8:40 remaining in play and then tacked on a one-yard quarterback sneak at the 2:52 mark.

Alvord took the early lead, but Santo responded quickly with an electrifying 84-yard touchdown by Grant Nemeth. Bryan’s first touchdown just before the half put Santo up 15-7. Bryan’s three-touchdown night came off of 11 carries for 95 yards as Santo rushed for a 282 totals yards.

Palmer 33

Millsap 30

Quarterback Jace Davis completed his first eight pass attempts and threw for more than 200 yards, but Millsaps Bulldogs (2-1)  came up short on the road Friday in a 33-30 loss to Palmer.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 14-6 first-quarter lead thanks to a 12-yard scoring run from Waylan Dunn and a one-yard score by Davis.

Basey Mitchell’s 10-yard touchdown run put the Bulldogs up 25-13 at halftime before Palmer scored 20-unanswered points in the third quarter

Davis found Austin McBroom on a 41-yard scoring pass with seven minutes to play, but the Bulldogs couldn’t punch in another touchdown for the win

Notre Dame 48

Community Christian 0

After a 2-0 start, the Community Christian Warriors were without two starters and ran into a wall as they fell 48-0 to Notre Dame in a Friday road loss.

Gordon 66

Newcastle 64

Down by 26 points, Gordon rallied as Hoss Rouse ran for five touchdowns and Brandon Mahan scored twice on the ground and passed for another as the Longhorns (2-1) edged past Newcastle 66-64 in week two football.

Rouse rushed for 108 yards on 20 carries, but it was Mahan 138 yards rushing that topped all the Longhorns efforts.

Gordon also got scores from Charles Mowles on a 14-yard reception from Mahan and Morgan Mahan on a six-yard run. The Longhorns racked up 478 yards of offense including 333 on the ground.

Editor’s Note: Gordon’s statistics are not available in time for next-publication print, but I feel it’s essential to include as many teams and players as we can
